Residences designed to make the everyday extraordinary.

The village of Maitland is a charming and picturesque residential community which dates back to the 1750s. Featuring a variety of quaint residences and wide-ranging amenities, Maitland is situated along the banks of the St. Lawrence River, in the heart of the 1000 Islands – an incredibly desirable part of Eastern Ontario.

Maitland is centrally located between the urban centres of Brockville and Prescott. With quick access to the major highways of 401 and 416, it is a convenient one-hour commute from Ottawa, and within minutes of two international bridges to New York State.

“Maitland is the most complete village I know of in Canada today.”

(Herb Stovel, one of the world’s leading authorities on conservation matters, 2008.)

“Maitland, a very neat village indeed.”

(John Armour, Jr., a traveller on the St. Lawrence River, 1835.)

“(Maitland is) the prettiest Point on the River.”

(Mrs. Elizabeth Simcoe, wife of Lt. Governor Simcoe, 1776.)

“Maitland has charm, much more charm than many a larger and more ambitious community.  It has antiquity in the find old limestone houses, with their ample grounds and attractive gardens, its picturesque stone tower, its ancient church and churchyard and its national historic site.  The mighty St. Lawrence passes by its backdoor.  There is a rest and peace in Maitland, a haven from its cares and worries of this troubled, rushing world, and it is thus small wonder that it is loved by its inhabitants and envied by those whose lot is cast in more turbulent surroundings.”

(H. Richards Morgan, editor of Brockville’s Recorder and Times, 1941)
